Ellis Bird Farm

3L and 3W had a fun-filled day of learning at the Ellis Bird Farm.  We went pond dipping, built nesting boxes, learned some interesting facts about bats, and fed some goats.

Grade 3’s, your challenge is to tell me one interesting fact you learned on our field trip to the Ellis Bird Farm.

Gina, Hanna, and Crew

Gina shows leadership when she is being proactive.  Gina is always ready to listen to instructions, knows how to be a good friend, and makes 3L a fabulous place to learn.  Mrs. Litzenberger appreciates how cooperative you are in and out of the classroom.  Congratulations Gina!

Hanna is showing leadership when she begins with the end in mind during our poetry unit.  She has done an amazing job using descriptive vocabulary in her haiku and acrostic poems and hilarious rhyming in her limerick poems! Keep up the fabulous writing Hanna!

Crew shows leadership when he is being proactive.  He always comes to school with a positive attitude, is ready to listen to instructions, and always tries his best in his daily work.   Thank you for being a cooperative member in 3L and keep bringing your smiles to school!  Congratulations Crew!

Poetry

We recently started our Poetry unit and through our class discussion we realize that some poems rhyme, some don’t, some poems are long and others are short. We have even read silly poems and have written a couple silly Limericks.

Students created their “All About Me” poems by searching for words in newspapers and flyers that describe them. When we were finished, we guessed whose poem it was.

Medicine River Wildlife Center Presentation

We had some special guests to our classroom today! Erin Young, and Otis the Great Horned Owl visited us from the Medicine River Wildlife Centre.

During their visit, we learned all about the Centre, and the work it does for wildlife rehabilitation. We saw photos of a variety of animals who have been helped by their organization. We also learned about what to do, and what NOT to do if we encounter an injured or orphaned wild animal.

Thank you so much to all the families who sent in a donation for the Wildlife Centre. We were able to present Erin with $207.00 today!
