Balancing Animals

We synergized in groups to build creative, balancing animals using recycled material, hot glue, and construction paper.

Grade 3’s, your challenge is to tell me what your group did to make your animal balance. Did you use a particular shape?

Sturdy Stools

During our Building Unit in Science we built stools by folding, rolling, and taping newspaper to make cylindrical pillars. Once we had about 10 pillars we taped them together and wrapped all the pillars with 2 pieces of newspaper. We had a blast testing our stools to see if they would hold our weight or not.

C.A.R.E. Presentation

We enjoyed a wonderful presentation about India by Jan Underwood from the Central Alberta Refugee Effort (C.A.R.E.). We learned a lot of new things about the East Indian’s Quality of Life, such as their food, celebrations, housing, clothing, schooling, sports, and food. Here are a few pictures of 3L and 3W from our presentation on India.

Grade 3’s, can you tell me one thing you learned about India from our presentation and what was your favorite thing you learned?

Sturdy Towers!

We have begun our Building Unit in Science and the students are very eager about their building projects. Our first project was building a tower that was at least 70 cm tall, held a mass of 100g, and stayed standing while having a fan turned on. We observed and tested each tower today and they past all the requirements.

Grade 3, here is your challenge! Tell me at least 1 important thing you did or used in your tower to make it strong and stable. I look forward to reading your comments.
