Spill the Beans

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The students enjoyed playing a Math game called “Spill the Beans.” Each student took turns shaking and tossing 2 beans onto a gameboard. Then they had to add the 2 numbers together that the beans landed on. After their partner did the same thing, they had to decide which partner’s sum was closest to 500. The partner whose sum was closest to 500 received one point.

Grade 3’s. Here is your challenge! Please tell me 2 three digit numbers that are rounded to the nearest 10. When you add them together their sum is 500. For example, 240 + 260 = 500. I look forward to seeing your addition number sentences.

Eve and Hayden!

158

Presented to Eve Andrews for showing leadership when she “Begins with the End in Mind.” Eve has been doing a wonderful job in getting started right away during Daily 5. She enjoys our Work on Writing time, making sure she has complete sentences, capital letters, proper punctuation, and that her ideas flow together. Mrs. Litzenberger looks forward to your next writing piece that you will share with the class.

Presented to Hayden Galbraith for showing leadership when he “Puts First Things First.” Hayden has been working hard during Daily 5 and making sure he is reading Good Fit books. He has also been working hard in his sight word recognition and his reading fluency is improving because of all the practice you have been doing Hayden! Keep up the fabulous work!

Happy Halloween

The students enjoyed Halloween once again this year by dressing up in their favorite costume. We created a bar graph using rocket candy and completed a Venn Diagram showing the similarities and differences between our own costume and a friend’s costume. Happy Halloween Everyone!
