Culture and the Languages We Speak

In Social Studies, we have started to learn about culture.

We have learned that culture is the way of life of a group of people. It includes traditions, language, beliefs, food, music and art.

Grade 3′s, please comment on this post to tell us about the languages that your family members know. You can include your extended family, such as aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. Please remember to use proper commenting form (proofread your writing and use complete sentences.)

Of course, we would love to hear from other blog followers from outside our class as well!

Old Bear paintings

The students created beautiful paintings of “Old Bear” taken from a book we read in class.  Old Bear experiences the four different seasons and hibernates through the winter.  We did some leaf stamping to show the end of Fall and the snowflakes represent the beginning of Winter.

Happy Halloween!

Whether or not you were dressed in a costume or in black and orange, we enjoyed Halloween by creating a bar graph from rocket candy and estimating the width, weight, number of seeds and lines on our pumpkin.  We then carved it into a spooktacular jack-o-lantern!
